Social Justice Philosophy
Social Justice is not just what it sounds like. It takes a deeper thinking and a SOJO education to know what it is. It also is not just talk about justice it is studies of injustices around the globe, the nation, and the local areas. It’s the struggle to learn of abuses or injustices that affect our communities and us through our knowledge come out with solution to make this world a more comfortable place for everyone to live. Social Justice is learning about our own cultures and our history so we can be proud of whom we are and we don’t let anybody put us down under any circumstance. At the beginning of my SOJO years I used to think that Social Justice was just the name of the school because I believed it was a school where all the kids that wanted to be lawyers and police and crime fighters would go but you would be surprised how my wholes oversee of the school changed in four years. In SOJO I learned that if you believe something is wrong you fight it with non-violent acts like for example when the SB-1070 came out in Arizona the school had a walkout in strive to make their voice be heard against that racist law, Or when the school had a sit-out in the hallway in order to get their AP classes back and also to get a new principal.
The purpose of Social Justice is to achieve a healthier community where everyone has it safe and fair. There are struggles that go on in order to achieve justice. There is an obstacle that must be overcome for example when it’s a legal rights thing you must protest peacefully and make strive for your voice to be heard.
The struggle is the actions you take to achieve Social Justice for example when you protest unfair actions by marching and making peaceful actions.
My struggle in this Fire Project is to get the issue of Animal Abuse/Neglect and raise awareness and people’s knowledge about the issue so they can’t fall on the category of abuser and they can’t help stop because through my project they will learn or become more informed.
